Land of Dawn: A Modern Residence Redefining Space

Creating a Fresh and Elegant Atmosphere

The Land of Dawn stands out with its pure and natural atmosphere, achieved through a carefully planned layout that incorporates a harmonious interplay of dark and light layers. This overlapping arrangement creates a progressive visual experience, highlighting the seamless transitions between different areas. Mu Yan Tsai and the design team have successfully captured the essence of dawn, the blazing sun, and dusk, infusing the house with an elegant and warm ambiance that reflects the client's personality and characteristics.

What sets the Land of Dawn apart is its commitment to redefining spaciousness. The design team started by focusing on the ceiling of the living room, using overlapping arcs to create a rounded and progressive low-key tension. This design element not only provides a clear visual direction but also introduces a rich visual change throughout the space. Additionally, the staggered configuration of screens and storage cabinets expands the depth of visual penetration, leading to dynamic changes in the overall spatial experience. This thoughtful approach not only aligns with the client's habits but also ensures a highly consistent and cohesive space.

The realization of the Land of Dawn involved a meticulous selection of materials and their strategic placement. The design team utilized the same tone with different materials to bring warmth and texture to each area. Wood veneer covers the main wall of the living room, while the TV wall is adorned with stone system panels, harmonizing the materials with other design details. Metal-framed glass sliding doors, curved marble screens, and curved glass were employed in the living room and dining hallway to preserve functionality and aesthetics, resulting in a practical and visually pleasing image.

The Land of Dawn is a 5-story, approximately 330 square meter residence with a well-thought-out layout. Each floor features a living room, a bathroom, and five bedrooms, including a master bedroom, a second bedroom, a parent's room, a study room (which can be converted into a children's room), and a room for the shrine. The design team has skillfully incorporated curved shapes and wood elements throughout the space, creating a fresh and inviting atmosphere in each area.

Through its progressive planning of curved, grille, and wooden materials, the Land of Dawn seamlessly connects the entire space, providing a harmonious and unique living experience. The design team has successfully constructed a real-life narrative for the residents, revealing their individual character and taste. As they wander through this pure, quiet, and comfortable space, they can effortlessly immerse themselves in an elegant and unique atmosphere.

The Land of Dawn was completed in October 2021 in Taiwan. Throughout the design process, the team conducted detailed research to understand the client's personality and create a unique and ideal space for them. By redefining the space and carefully selecting colors, materials, and furnishings, the design team achieved a harmonious and consistent atmosphere that prioritizes functionality, convenience, and comfort.

This exceptional design project faced its fair share of challenges. As a single-family house, the design team had to overcome the limitations of the original space. Through the strategic use of materials and lighting, they successfully created a warm and temperate spatial context that showcases the uniqueness of the Land of Dawn. This project goes beyond the conventional boundaries of space, offering a visual and tactile calmness that perfectly aligns with the client's character.

The Land of Dawn is a testament to the design team's creativity, technical expertise, and dedication to creating a warm and elegant modern residence. With its subdued dark color palette, marbling accents, and careful attention to lines and axes, this design captures the essence of nature and offers a sanctuary where the client can let go of the burdens of the day and truly feel at home.
